Well I've dismantled the carb cleaned the jets and floatbowl...ran the engine and there's more water coming through.
Tank drain?......wil siphoning take out the water?

ugh! mouthful of petrol, yurk!
You could empty a lot of the tank like that but it won't stop the water getting in again.
I don't know why they didn't put a drain plug in on these tanks, maybe to stop the petrol being nicked or a safety feature? I suppose its not beyond the possibilities to put a drain hole and bung in.

Thanks cate I think this heavy rain has contributed some how.
Oh well I suppose I'm not going to get out of giving carol some oral.

i had a retaining ring on my old velle and it was pretty rotton, the main reason for fuel leaks / water ingress was last owner had put a 3"self tapper through the retaining ring and split the filler neck! oh and check your brathers!!

That retaining ring does get quite carppy after a while, worth replacing when you do the filler neck.
