So... any interest in getting together this weekend or sometime soon? Any ideas about where? We got 2/3 way up St Agnes Beacon yesterday but it was too easy really. Got the video proof but I need to work on my editing skills before I can show it.

The grey high top sounds like Dan's other ride - a 16" that he has converted to a Westy. Cool ride, I am sure he will give us some details

Could try United Downs - the LRs go there although I'm not sure how to get on to it as there are a few locked gates around. I know Keeno has tried out his Tristar somewhere near St Agnes. Anyone got any ideas? Bodmin Moor??

Well how about waiting till early Dec and setting a firm date now. I can't do 5 Dec but am OK for the rest (tho 25 & 26 might pose a bit of problem!). If anyone wants to do a mini meet before then I would be up for that as well except for 7 Nov. Also meet somwhere for a pint one evening? Where does everyone live?

Might be up for a meet (pub lunch) but not bothered about scratchy laning.
December should be okay, syncro should be on road by then. Any weekend with some notice.
I'm in Torquay.

Nice one KarlT. I'll be interested to learn about your EJ25 as I'm thinking that might be the way for me to go. Will keep you posted.

I will come out to play,
but Spannerboy sent me this picture of my new engine a while ago:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/interplay/5103381884/
Guessing its installed in the syncro but cant really tell..
He has rebuilt the motor and polished the engine bay!
It may be some time yet before its racing around Cornwall
probably have some niggles to sort out sumpwise or something.
Eager to put some miles on it..

PS I really cant get the hang of posting pictures on here,
I have followed the instructions but they dont make sense to me,
how does it work?

You need to put your pictures up on a hosting site like flickr or photobucket. When they are on a site like that each pic will have a unique address. Copy that address. When you are writing a post you will see a little toolbar just above where you are writing, one of the buttons has 'Img' on it. Click that one and paste the pic address there ....

Simple

Hi Rollercoaster - Love the Airstream behind your Syncro! You'll need a Scooby to tow that I think. Is your Syncro the one on the home page of Syncrospares website?

Just been on the Cornwall Council mapping website. Around United Downs there are a lot of RUPPs and byeways open to all traffic (BOLTs?!) which we are going to explore.

Thanks for the help, this is an attempt to put a picture up, see if it works,
seems simple as you say.. (E D I T: cant make this work, tried a few things, plus help from Fickr)

Heres the URL for the pic on Flickr anyway..

Yes I bought the Syncro from Syncrospares, and it is a lovely bus, some of you may know it as CJ's old van.
I would be interested to know some history, might save me some problems.
Dont like problems, paid handsomely for it as "all good" but the DJ motor didnt last to 300 miles before it threw a fit.
It was supposedly a recon unit and I hadnt examined it much, sounded a bit rough, but it didnt look its best after some of the insides found their way out..

Have to say, before that I liked the power but the economy was awful, so when Syncrospares offered me a replacement I wasnt keen, looking for something with more reliability and economy seemed the best idea.
And its good to have a bit of credit at Syncrospares!

However it seems to have been an age in the garage and life is too short for that.
Been using a little Nissan Almera 1600 to pull the trailers round, not a good move..

The bus was most of its life in the Kalahari taking people on safari, it has ten seats, including rear facing "dickie" seats, also has aircon in an aircraft style tunnel in the roof, which I will most likely take out at some point.
The fan is great for face level fresh air, but I wont be fitting an AC pump on the motor, and I would like to fit a Viking roof later.
I hope that doesnt upset the purists, I know it would be good to restore it as it is, but I waited for a while to find a RHD window van without rust, and I have my own ideas on camper conversions, like plenty of seats and the bed when I need it, most of the time if I want to camp in style it will be with a trailer.

Perhaps someone knows how to put me in touch with CJ and I can ask him about the old van..
