Well, we're not Troglodytes here Pad, despite burrowing our way through Devon lanes last week..

Perhaps our involvement in creating the 25Y website and organisational forum, promoting, encouraging, taking and co-ordinating all £Sterling bookings, attending in significant numbers, representing the UK Syncro fraternity, liaising with similar Euro Syncro clubs and subsequently creating a permanent record of the event has been overlooked...

Since a fair proportion of Syncro owners here, whilst predominantly using our forum for communication, don't necessarily attend our events, that might be it...

On the other hand, there is no other UK Syncro group or organisation furthering their use, maintenenace and enhancement

It is a wee bit sad though, that our now considerable resources and ability to contact upwards of 150 Syncro owners hasn't been tapped...

That said, it is a true shame on VF organisors and a particular one is a syncro owner, has not contacted or spoken to any of the syncronauts.
It will be quite interesting to see what footage goes along with their display

The 60 Years of Transporting Display should/will run like this:

* We will require a MAIN and if possible a RESERVE vehicle for each year of production.

*This will be done on a first come first served basis. (You should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky ...)

* Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible. (Bloody 'ell, its a competition then... ?)

* MAIN vehicles will be offered place in the outside MAIN ARENA line up on the Saturday.

* RESERVE vehicles will be offered place in the Avon Hall Display over the whole weekend.

* Volkswagen UK will be providing the 2010 production vehicles.

* We will post a progress report on our website which should highlight any missing/required years of production *

25 YEARS OF SYNCRO DISPLAY
A line up (on the Saturady) of 25 Syncro’s at the MAIN AREANA to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Syncro being produced. There will also be a static display for Syncro’s (and SYNCRO Information) as well in the AVON HALL. For the “25th Anniversary of the Syncro line up we require (at least) 25 Syncro’s for the Outside Main arena display on the Saturday PLUS a good weekend selection to display inside the Avon Hall.

* SYNCRO 25 YEARS DISPLAY ( as of today)

1) D5 HOL

2) D603 DCK

3) F663HKP

4)

5)

6)

.................... etc

I'm sure it will all come together on the day...

i am not going but my thoughts are that if they want too use my van as part of there displays will they be refunding the cost of the ticket? or are they expecting these syncro's too get them out of what looks like a bit of a pickle for personal glory? after all if there were no vans turning up there would be no show.

Dont forget vanfest is about making money, it just happens to be by using VW's.

They do offer (in their blurb) a refund voucher or optionally a ticket for next year..

If you do display, don't walk away and leave valuables on-show.

I had my van on display last year and was promised a refund on the camping ticket. Still waiting for the cheque to come through.

It's not like it is hitting the bottom line. Got to be taking at least half a million over the weekend. Wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to the million mark.

Here is a guess.
8000 vans at £35 at least a van (they don't drive by themselves) = £280 000
Say an extra 4000 people as passengers = £140 000
Another 8000 day visitors @ £10 each = £80 000
300 Trade stands at average (guess) £600 = £180 000

Total £680 000 - guess. Cost will be high but not half a million high.

I'm going spend a bit of time at VF talking to the good folk with two front windscreens, for benefit of #2 son.
Just for a change. Busman's holiday you might say #groan#
