Had a look see this afternoon and fettled a bit, not quite what I expected
The garage guy there had got it pretty much spot on, just didn't have T25 wbx knowledge and his motor factor not the best either. He's Polish, and from what I saw today most of his customers are today, but he's cool about me working on Chrissie's van there and let me use me his copper slip and some oil
tappets madly out of adjustment, like there would have been no intake into 1 cylinder at all the valve would never have opened, and the lifters aren't all pressurized properly yet
Weber carb
v tired rotor arm, king lead and disi cap, poor vac leads
though the spark leads themselves genuine VW and fairly fresh
NGK spark plugs not sure the correct ones supplied by Unipart
dirty fuel filter but not that bad
leaking rocker cover and gaskets
front main oil seal leaks
clutch worn out and slightly slippy
oil breather hose to chassis
knackered early exhaust on a late van
noisey alternator 65 or 90 amp
gear linkage out of adjustment
changed fuel filter, spark plugs, rotor, disi cap, king lead, gaskets and reset tappets to 1 1/4 and timing to standard 5 degrees btdc - does anyone know if it should be retarded for the weber - that's how it was set up - probably just set up with vac advance connected last time, and new vac lines/connectors
it's driveable now but needs some more tlc; banged in a big list to Mick at Preston hopefully can get a lot of stuff good used
