Im hoping the AAz engine is pretty sturdy in ours, the same bloke installed it and has been servicing it for the past three years. Starts instantly , runs well, good mpg, so all fine so far. Obviously the non engine bits need some thinking about too.

Thanks, i'll work to a shorter list picked from yours but thats really useful nonetheless.

You will find an engine will rarely let you down. Its things like dry CV joints (I take it they are well greased with clips tightly sealed on the inner end on the drive shaft) Wheel barings (I carry a rear pressed in a hub and a spare front one) Snapped accelerator cable (i keep one of those to) clutch slave cylinder etc that will get you. I spend about £100 a month on my van replacing worn parts for new ones to cut the chance of failure down to a minimum. Its usually people who think because a mechanic has changed the oil and filter its reliable, and have taken no spares with them or tools or dont know the basics of vans that you see at the side of the road. I helped some fella the other month with a flat who was in a t25, he didnt even have a jack

Hi Jed. Thats a handsome website, the French trip looks great. We actually got our van with touring France in mind. Weve been numerous times with our tent but were always a bit envious of campervans landing on site, bottle of red, sorted, with feet up within five minutes of arrival.

Thanks for the tips. I'm no kind of mechanic but would love to learn the specifics of the T25 (id like to think id remember to take a jack!). Ive no idea whats been greased or tightened on ours but its running a dream. As I said thats due to a dub specialist looking after it. You are right though - the only thing thats gone wrong is the acceperator cable snapping the other week.

It would be good if we could have T25 technical meet ups so idiots like me could learn a thing or two, or even a short course on keeping the van on the road. Ive been all around France several times in a 1971 Citroen DS which was faultless, so im a bit blase about breaking down. I sold the Citroen to buy the van in April so im hoping for the same reliability.

....so it looks like the list of spares to take has just got bigger
