Sorry you are having trouble getting that off - mine keeps falling off by itself

Thanks all for the amazing amount of help. I have eventually got the cover off! It did involve taking the "choke" panel off (not sure what this is there for anyway as mine doesn't pull out!) and giving it a good yank. One of the plastic clips snapped off in the process, but superglued it back on & it seems to be okay, unit is back in place now.
After all of this I couldn't for the life of me get the cab mat to fit, not sure if this was to do with the soundproof layer & the carpet on top, is the mat meant to sit directly onto the bodywork in the foot well? Anyway, after cutting bits off to try & make it fit I gave up & threw it in the bin
So, if anyone knows where I can get a one piece cab mat that covers over the gear stick area also, and the walkthrough section, and fits a 1990 lhd Westy Cali I would appreciate knowing about it...........I only want to protect the grey carpet from too much wear.
Thanks again for the help.
Matt

Hi again. How frustrating for you!
Again, I had the same idea for mine...try here for mats..

Very good price too. You need to make sure you get ones for LHD and diesel as the floor shape is different i think (higher????). Had them delivered to friends in the UK so haven't got them over here yet. But, reading other threads they seem to do the job fine.
All the best.
Tom.
