i always go for the "weld a nut on" aproach. even in aluminium.
it only works though if you are patient and wait for it to thoroughly cool down before you try to undo it.
as the weld heat spreads down the stud, it does expand and get tighter and therefore ( in my imagination at least) it compresses all the rust or whatever has been holding it in leaving a bit of wriggle room once it has cooled down again.
the hotter the better though which might not be easy on a long stud in a deep hole. if you can get it red hot somewhere near the stuck bit without damaging anything else is always good.
i suspect that with the addition of freeze spray too once it has cooled down might just be a winner.

saying that, the first time it happened to me, my garage just sent it away to be spark eroded out. i just saw it as a good opportunity for an overhaul and got the garage to replace anything inside which needed it. did cost a lot of money though. but worth it as it was good to me from that day on.

i think they just like the attention.

Following the heat it up and shock it idea - you could touch a stick welder on the end of the stud for a second or two and then quench it immediately. It's work for me once or twice. Have someone standing by to kill the power though, just in case!

If you are still able to get enough torque onto the stud to be able to tell it's twisting, maybe as well as all the things already mentioned, give it a few sharp hammer bashes along the axis of the stud to help break the thread free
