We're coming at this from a different perspective - I rack up 300 miles every weekend just getting my eldest to and from school (not from choice, just how life goes) so that's 11k per year for starters and this is my daily driver now ( from choice )
I've had petrols and diesels, old and new. It's all about pence per mile. So gas is a winner and the oil lasts longer!
PS I can't really argue against the low-speed torque benefits of diesel for off-roading

You still have to factor in buying the engine/ancillaries and getting it fitted for pence per mile. Dont forget the price of a LPG kit for a scooby which no-one has confirmed how much it is yet (so lets say its £2k).

So you're pence per mile is more for the first 5 years? I cant be arsed to do the maths - but its a hell of a lot more outlay than a diesel...

I'd just stick with the "its more fun" argument if i were you....

Scooby LPG conversion ought not cost more than 1400... considerably less if prepared to do it yourself (but not for the mechanicaly inept )

Steve does gas on EJ's for the same money as DJ's.
