I don't think you'll get away with that, coppers wondering around in a zombie like stagger with smoke pouring from their retinas isn't a good look..

Here is a question for you boffins.
How does the type of bulb make a difference to the beam and spray pattern of a light?
I mean if you get one of these brighter Silverstar jobbies then doesn't that alter the beam and spray pattern following the same logic?

I am going to do a brightness test on my wife at the weekend. Only had a chance give it a quick test after fitting it.
I have to say that when I switched on the high beams it didn't seem to make a huge difference over dipped - just mostly added a yellow tinge to the light. Am guessing the normal dipped beam is now equivalent to normal highs which isn't good.
Glad I only bought the 35 watt set. The 55 watt one would have been a real eye burner.

modern headlights seem to have a much brighter spread so that I'm coinstantly dazzled by oncoming vehicles, they seem to project more light up to our level, should make them use 20 year old lights and slow down imho.
remember the old days when the motorways had obscurers between the carriageways and you could drive on full beam for ages cos there was nothing in front of you and you didn't have to worry about dazzling the oncoming traffic, now we have overhead lights 24/7 (mostly) and clear sight of opposite carriageway so now we suffer from rubbernecking delays and light pollution, progress great eh.

We only have a few motorways in Scotland and most of them only have 2 lanes. Part of the reason I live up here is because I hate the motorways and congestion you get in much of England. I can see a great number of stars from my garden but if I need to get away completely I can be sitting by a loch with the only traffic noise being that of a passing hedgehog or the splash of a trout in about 15 minutes.

Scotland is a fabulous place. I drove its highways and byways for 3 years with work and loved it. Its just like home only wetter (if thats possible)

Was that on the West coast then Paddy. I'm on the east side and haven't found it too bad over the last 13 years. Them west coasters I am sure have evolved with a waxy water shedding layer and webbed feet. I have a theory that the Glaswegians speak so quickly because they have an urgency born from the need to get things done before the rain comes on.
