Thanks for that - not sure what I need just yet, but if I can get the necessary parts this side of the pond that I can't make myself - I will do!

cable shifter guy is in the UK... and what he is offering is pretty cheap really, but then it looks like he has full access to a production line to pick parts off..

Still re bush some of the std linkage and fit my short shifter kit and away you go.. nice precise shifting with less travel.. for a lot less cas too.. but of course doesnt solve the scooby box problem, which hid prob would..

Found it on samba, in the end. Looks like I may have bought the wrong donor vehicle for the AWD project.
It seems that Legacy dual range gearboxes may not be suitable for the reversed/flipped cwp, as the dual range gear housing is mounted in the middle if the (2 piece) gearbox input shaft and probably would foul I'm waiting for confirmation but it doesn't look good. The impreza gearbox and diff with 4.1 ratios would have been a better bet, but they get ragged...so its much harder to find a good one.
So the Leggy is only good for the motor and loom, which may not be a bad thing. At least I can update the Microbru and get away from the early (non-existant, in my case) and rare "brown-label" MAF and ecu.
And it's still stuck up in Rochdale
I'll keep gathering parts for now

Latest: Looks like the gearbox may be useable after all. (Thanks to original manx on samba for this info) I'll need to get the box out and onto the bench. One opened up, see off the flipped diff will basically clear the Hi/low tumblers on the input shaft...otherwise remove low gear and jackshaft and lock in the high position:

Really wanted to build it all "bells and whistles" as an AWD, dual range, road-going beastie We shall see...
PS Running the rear diff up front and inverted is ok as that's how Nissan GTR's were built with this vey diff (R160)
