thanks Sam, it's on runners and will move back or fore & the actual seat then swivels to face front or back or side. I tried to get it to just slide off the runners but there appears to be screws at the end to prevent that. How the hell you'd get in there to unscrew them is beyond me tho!

I've removed the water tank and the buddy seat, the swivel mechanism of which was bolted from underneath. I now use a smaller water thingy directly under the sink which is easier to empty and clean, especially if going to festivals where parking next to the standpipe while you fill up isn't always practical. Some storage space was gained by removal of the water tank and I've also wired speakers in there.

does your buddy have the semi solid base on runners? Have you managed to remove the entire thing or just the actual seat off the top?

To remove the buddy seat you have to remove the waste water tank then you will find x4 bolts for the buddy seat, as for the fresh water tank you will have to dismantle some of the wood work and I promise you the space you will gain is next to nothing We dont use the water from the tank for drinking but its great for washing up and very handy to have if you over heat somewhere etc. Defo takeout the buddy seat as its too big........

hmmm, I don't have a waste water tank, it just drains straight outside & I put a catcher down.

I agree the buddy is too big but it's a useful seat for me as I quite often have between 2 & 4 teens in the back!

get rid of them - it'd free up a lot more room than getting rid of the water tank

Not sure what you mean but, yes, I've removed the whole thing. The runners were bolted onto the floor, i.e. four bolts coming up from underneath the van, and the swivel mechanism was attached to that. A wooden box with the seat attached to it was on top of the swivel thing (sorry if this is not clear or even 100% accurate, it was last year and I was ripping it out with no intention of replacing it). When, or if, you remove it you'll be left with four holes in your floor.

If you're thinking of removing the water tank just for the sake of extra storage then I'd say it's not worth the hassle. The space gained is, as said bove, minimal although I do have a few camping essentials which fit quite nicely in there. I did my alterations as part of a whole project involving a hammer and a lot of swearing but it does feel more spacious without the buddy seat and I'm hoping to use the swivel base on the front passenger seat.

aha! okay cool. thanks, will know what to do when I'm ready to put new flooring down.

will keep the buddy for the time being but I expect I'll get rid once the teens have buggered off and left home!

hi just saw the thread trouble with the autohomes tank is its put in first before the kitchen the right hand end (drivers side) is under the units so is a major job to remove. just clean it out and use it! if im not using the tank for a while i usually put 10 ltrs of water in it add some milton and every time i drive the water sloshes round and hopefully keeps it clean, then day before camping pump it out and flush it with clean water, tastes ok and saves running to tap all week.
