Was that a pun "had your work cut out" Daft thing is the French van I hacked the side panel out of was in pristine condition body wise. Was sorely tempted to rebuild my mechanicals into the French van but it just seemed a longer term project and I want to be ready to roll come April/May time :ok

Got some more done on my old van today, finished off welding some fillets into the step and a coat of anti rust paint...... . . .
Image

Put the replacement door on although at first it would not fit as I had welded the step a millimeter or two too high :x

I spent the last hour or so cutting off the old flange and posts from the donor side panel, boring but needs to be done.... . . .

Did,nt have a spot welding drill bit so used this technique, bit brutal but has done the job with very little damage to the flange thats needed to reweld donor panel back on van....... . .

Excellent work chap. That bus of yours has rust in places I never knew rusted...

Also, donor side panel was in excellent nick - rare in itself!

Thanks guys, actually its not hard to find rust free examples over here in France as they dont tend to use salt as much on the roads in winter.
My van has beaucoup rust due to being used as a surf school minibus in North Cornwall.
After the body work is sorted I have to pull the engine and replace the water jacket seals
