my mot guy thought my van (MV) was running lean at 0.3% until I told him it was on lambda (and gas) so I think they use either the DJ figure for the 2.1 or some other value based on the year, I don't think the mot system knows which engine variant you have.

ONLY DJ's need timing adjustment to 5 deg BTDC if using 95UL as they usually run 10 deg BTDC on 98UL..

Mine is set at 10 deg BTDC, and when Im not running on LPG I have had 95 ron in and found it to run the same as 98 ron.

Yes it will run, but it will be detonating ("pinking") just its much harder to hear it.. I have opened a few DJ's with incorrect timing for 95 and they eaten pistons.. sometimes they can eat so much away, the ring gets exposed and then snaps off...

I have run a DJ spec engine with DG carb etc, on LPG and 98UL for in the region of 150k miles at 10 deg.. I would only use 95ul in an emergency at 10 degree's.. keeping off full throttle..

Thats good to hear, though as mine will be running on carb i assume it will be nearer to the dg figure my van is currently running anyway.
