If not its broke, i set mine to have about a 6mm gap between butterfly and throat, put filter back on fired up with a high idle, drove round the block a couple of times pulled up and it was back to normal idle, popped filter housing off and chokes were open. Job done
PS you don't need to put your foot flat on the floor to set the choke, when cold should be closed regardless on these carbs.
cheers damian, will revisit this thread at the weekend, print off........ and play!!

had a play today. The right choke was open and the left closed. When opening the choke itself found foam had been stuffed in it so it wouldn't close?? removed it and reset both so that they were nearly closed and ran for a while with airfilter off and they both opened when engine was warm. Yet to check when engine is cold again. I did notice 2 things:
1. I didn't think the idle was high enough even when butterfies were closed
2. when i put the airfilter back on it wouldnt start and I had to ease off the choke before it would start
Tried to start it later when cold again and although idled a wincy bit higher still needed some revs so wondering if there are other problems. I also got some carb cleaner and gave them both a good spray.
