No idea really. This one was a bit special. It was a demountable but he fixed it to the chassis and did quite a few other bits and bobs.

We have a brand new Landy at work, and it's pants. It keeps deciding not to start 'till you disconnect and reconnect the battery, makes lots of clunky noises if you let the clutch in and out while your driving, and unlike a VW the design, hasn't evolved to cure simple problems, for example the door check straps were not up to on the last one we had (maybe 10 years old) and they're still not now. Do all Landy's have a dent in the A piller where the door has opened too far?

My mate loves them. He is as mad about them as we are about Syncros. He bought a brand spanker and within the first 2 year of ownership it was on the road for one. Lots of quality issues. Every time it rained heavily or he washed the car he ended up with a puddle inside the car. Argued for months until he bought it to the dealer to demonstrate with a jet wash. He got his girlfriend to record it on her phone. The idiot tried to tell him he couldn't use a jet wash on the car whilst behind him his own employee was washing a Defender with you guessed it a jet wash. They eventually fixed everything and as a placator they threw in lots of stuff like winches and roof racks. They also gave him a range Rover Sport for the best part of a year to drive.

My father in law bought a 08 reg defender brand new, took it back 2 weeks later as the "boot" filled with water every time it rained. They had it 4 days and gave it back, still leaked. I had a look under the arches and there was no seam sealer, back it went, came back 4 days later seam sealed and painted. Then he put it in 4wd for the first time since owning it and it wouldn't come back out, tried all the usual stuff. They had it 3 days and it came back ok, now the steering is wobbly and the engine check light is on constantly.

For a laugh he asked for a quote to fit a work light on the back and a spotlight bar on the roof so he can see what he's doing in the dark. £800 to fit 3 lights!!!

Needless to say he now has a very powerful £6 torch until the warranty runs out and we can fit the lights ourselves.

Ive had landys both personal and work ones, there ok if you ejoy fixing the soding things In there defence there isnt much for the same money that will keep with them round the farm. but theres no way i would spend my own cash on a TD5 there just proper poo, ive seen 7 in the last month with fueling probs and there gutless piles of crap
