Your Westy may have a lot of metal on show, because yours maybe a Mosaic, which was converted to a camper from a kit, as per post on Brick-Yard.
Yours is unusual in the fact that there is a lot of metal on show.

For £3 and a trip to Argos you can have the best toast imaginable.

Westy. The others just aren't as good.

i have a leisuredrive and it does everything i want it to do. have a look round a few until you find something you're really happy with is my advice. (remember that for camping, storage room and bed comfort are probably the most important things to consider)
as others have said watch out for fake westies where someone has chucked a westy roof onto something else and called it a westfalia cos they don't know what it means.
i think a company called eastfalia usually have some nice ones. google them and have a look.

Well all I can add to this well worn question is, 1x Autohomes, 1 x Dehler ( ) and 2 X Westies, no contest

There are lots of fake westys out there so be careful

And there are often way overpriced, look at a few vans, you will be surprised what you can get for a lot less (and often better)

Must go and make some TOAST, and westy owners want a piece

Can someone please tell me WHY they think a wessie is superior? I know they're the only VW approved one but then Mr VW was hardly going to scour europe visiting different countries' conversion companies was he?

When I was hunting for a van I went on the net to look at as many pictures of different conversions as possible so I could narrow down my options. Then I went out physically viewing different conversions and after viewing a fair few decided that I would seek out the best condition watercooled, low mileage vehicle possible, which was also either an Autosleeper 'Trident' or an Autohomes 'Komet' - which one did not bother me as I liked them both over other conversions.

I did look at Westfalias but decided I wasn't that keen on their interiors due to certain aspects of their internal layout/operation and the fact I'm not keen on the internal 'clinical' finish - but that's just my taste; I wouldn't say westies are rubbish just 'cos the interior is just not to my taste anymore than I'd say it of a Devon or Viking Explorer.

So, since a westfalia has a cooker, a basin, a fridge, heating and a couple of beds and an Autohomes has a cooker, a basin, a fridge, heating and a couple of beds and an Autosleeper has a cooker, a basin, a fridge, heating and a couple of beds and a Leisuredrive has a cooker, a basin, a fridge, heating and a couple of beds etc etc, tell me WHY.

And before anyone says the 'they're more solid' fallacy, I'm going camping in it, not taking it to this years re-enactment of 'The Battle of the Bulge'...............
