Early LT arms/mounts are different then late LT. Peasant's pic is early LT mount.

Syncro and late LT use same top mounts. Syncro use an angled filler/gasket to adjust the angle.

Syncro and late LT use same lower mount casting, but hole spacing is different.

I removed lower mount from arm, cut 61mm off of arm and reassembled. This stands arms vertical instead of angling out at bottom. Then mounted stock mirrors with slot toward window instead of away form window as in peasant's pic of heated mirror. Same mirrors, just not heated.

Thank you for all the very useful responses, including photos, to my query about mirrors. I have learnt that:

1. Tristar mirrors are available but at a price (Euro359/pair). Very nice but out of budget at the moment.
2. Ebay.de is a potentially useful source of parts including second-hand mirrors.
3. Rivinut/rivit nuts are a fixing option - I haven't used them before after looking on YouTube now know how to.
4.There are differences between LT & T3 mirror baseplates and arms but that there are a number of aproaches to adapting them to fit depending on engineering skill and aesthetic preference.

I think that I will keep a look out for decent T3 & LT second-hand mirrors and make do with the rather tired standard ones for the time being.
