If you have a problem with the square drive or the cable rounding off as I did with a previouse motor then I bent a piece of welding rod through the hole in the cable and bent it round the cap and secured it with a jubilee clip. Tight ? NO I'm from Yorkshire,

mines been doing this since 1998 and ive changed speedo heads too, for other reasons ( Euan!) i recon its the cable..........
i greased the cable with motorbike spray chain lube grease and it stopped, but i'm too lazy to do it again....

I've got a can of that expensive stuff, think it might be good for gear linkages under the van.
