block of wood is defo the best.

If you really want engine to be trouble free and last either ditch aaz aux belt setup and go to jx setup or fit the new type of aaz alternator pulley, this is the cause of ALL aaz bottom pulley problems, fitting new bolt makes virtually no difference, but is a must when replacing crank pulley.

My bottom pulley went and i have the jx setup on. The bolt was loose and the keyway had sheared off to nothing.

Im really confused now....

The engines on the garage floor- so i will put a block of wood in when i take the sump off.

However, do i really need to bother?

Did you put a new pulley and bolt in when you changed it to jx setup? Damage is being done all the time with aaz setup without new modified alternator pulley.
JX setup is good as long as aux belt is not over tight
AAZ setup is best with modified alternator pulley.

Fair point - i have no idea of the history of the engine so the damage could have been done before the 15k miles i did with it. (No, i didnt change the pulley wheel).

The block of wood is a genius idea - thanks very much for that, its saved me some time!
