Might have hassles getting it into Oz. If I remember right it is a pain in the proverbial getting a car into Oz. Lots of modifications and tests required. Could be wrong though. Imported from there but not exported to there.
Wish I had the dosh but the taxman is after me at the moment and the wife would divorce me if I bought another money pit.

From what I remember when Andy took his syncro caravelle back to Oz, it was a nightmare and only poss if you had owned the vehicle for more than a year (might have been 3... I cant remember) had to have all sorts of washing and "delousing" too...
I heard of a RHD tristar that went to the USA and the bloke bloomin converted it to left hand drive......

there were so few RHD ones.. that seems daft to me..
If my numbers come up this fri/sat..

If I had the money, I would jump at it.
My wife's a vet, maybe I could persuade her to get it as a work vehicle?!

Just checked it out... that is one lovely truck. Is there any service history to back up the super-low mileage? I could be tempted...

There are a lot of posts on the story of that truck on this forum and if you read the description of it on ebay you might twig the fact that it has had a total bare shell rebuild including a new engine. It is as close to a new Tristar as you will ever see and if you looked at the links the seller has provided you will know that. Service history? I doubt it but what would it mean if there was?

In response to the question about history:
I have an MOT from 1999 showing mileage of 22,497 and a first use date of 1991. The next MOT I have is from July 2007 showing mleage of 29,320. I have receipts from work done since the renovation. I also ran an HPI on the van which confirmed the mileage. It had been on a personal registration until it was saved from a field in 2007. I have the original Instruction Manual, Service locations, and radio manual, but no service book. I thought I had it, but it's not with the other manuals. (I might be confusing this with my 16" which had a service booklet.)
Thanks and regards,
Robert

I've ended the auction, and the van is no longer for sale.
Sorry to anyone who was bidding on Ebay.
I'm keeping it.
I had several people see it and 2 of them commented that it was too nice for them to use regularly so they did not want to buy it. I agree that it's very nice, and I am going to drive it regularly.
I'm once again unsure how long I'll be able to stay in the UK, but until it's time to go, the Tristar will stay with me.
Thanks,
Robert

Just checked out the build video... your truck is indeed something special. I think I might have been tempted to buy it but also worried about driving it - especially off road! It is such a rare beast and in such good condition that it almost belongs in a collection or VW museum! Good luck with the move in the future. Regards, matt
