Yes
Oil leaks from the rocker cover gaskets are quite common.
DON'T use silicone gasket paste (or any other) without being VERY careful you only put the lightest smear on.
Too much and it will ooze out, bits will fall off and block small oil ways = very bad.
Other places where oil can leak and look like it's coming from the rocker cover are the nearside oil pressure switch (on the crankcase between the centre push-rod tubes), and the push-rod tubes themselves (at each end there is a doughnut shaped seal).
Non of the above causes of leaks are serious or hard to fix, so fingers crossed for you.
Any time you are not sure what to do, post back before guessing

Hi folkes, was hoping it was the cork seal round the plastic rocker cover, that sounded easy to fix but looks like the drip is coming from the foreward most nearside push rod tube, thats bad right?

Pushrod seals are easy enough to change, remove rocker covers then unbolt the 2 sets of rocker gear, remove the pushrod retaining wire (make a note of how it fits) and then remove the tubes out through the head. I found a little twist and a pull with a pair of pliers freed them. Replace seals (bought a set from GSF) and refit. I did all 8 pushrods in about an hour.

Well does'nt sound so bad................How much car do I have to remove to get enough access? I will buy seals from local GSF, will i need any other products? lubricants, sticking things? When doing this what do I need to look out for - what are the most likely kinds of error? also The tinware at the back of the engine has gone from the engine bay - do you know where I can get replacement tinware from? could'nt see any on JK.

New set of rocker cover gaskets woth replacing (about £1 each), along with the seals thats all you need.
You can access it all from under the van without removing anything but tinware, and as you have none not an issue!

thanks for your advice folkes!
have taken push rod tubes out but have some concerns, some of the new seals are loose? does this mean that the pushrods are mishaped? (I have put the correct size seals on the correct end) also there is no retaining wire for the rocker gear? how much of a problem is this?
Also there is a missing link from one of the heat exchangers - how much of a problem is this? combined with the lack of tinware from the back of the engine bay, is my van destined to overheat?
Oh and do I need to put any special goo on the seals or literally just plonk them on?

I take it you did reset the tappets after having the rocker gear off, didn't you ?

Nope! I read another thread that said that this would'nt be required - adjusting tappets, will go search the archive for advise. thanks mr ghost123!
