We are currently at Swissfarm in Henley on Thames staying in our lovely van, Dory. Hard standing pitch with electric and digital antenna socket for Digital TV and our own drinking water tap. They have a heated outdoor pool and a bar with pub garden. Lots of wildlife and a nice clean site with amazingly clean toilets and showers. A great place to relax away from work. Not the cheapest at £20 a night but it's quiet ( you do hear the faint noise of planes from Heathrow) it's a 5 minute walk to Henley and some great pubs along the river. There is also a park for kids to play in and a fishing lake on site (fishing included in nightly rate) all in all we would recommend, having a lovely time as we are away in the van for our second anniversary

Wowo is great site. What's better than having a bloody great fire at night and a walk through the woods to the boozer which sells great beer and pork scratchings? Although I would advise going on a weeknight for extra peace.

Yes, camping is for me - altho I prefer the type where there is hot running water to wash your dishes, and where they're isn't people who can't light a fire without a tonne of lighter fuel.

You can have a "kind of" bonfire at any site really - I've never had a problem just sticking a bunch of twigs & logs in my BBQ after I've finished cooking. YOu certainly can get a wild fire going. But its ok because its off the ground.

Oh BTW their is a lovely site in Alfriston. Loads of toddler friendly walks, and plenty of longer walks too - about 5miles to the sea. Horses grazing nearby, and they do pony treking down the lane for all ages for about 5pounds each. My youngest is horse crazy so it fitted the bill perfectly.

Loads to do locally to, so if the kids weren't happy enough just runnning around the field and woody path, then you can go to Drusillas and Paradise Park (perfect for Dinosaur fans).

Facilities basic but adequate.

BTW agree, Swiss farm fabulous. So much to keep you busy you can stay there for a week without have to drive off site with the van (which is one of the things I hate doing).

Their is a camp site in Hurley, just down the road, which is lovely too. Right on the river (their is a fence between so kids can't get through... unless thier is a hole or gap!), and their were geese and everything. the river is beautiful at this point too, quite shallow. Infact people were swimming in it! Definately paddle-able. No boats.
