nah take a spin up porlock hill just up the road, i did that in my 1.7d .. yeah it got hot then died.. my 1y does that happly now .. just

You'll be fine mine , loads of us head down the A30 every year , 2.1 ,1.9 , 1.6 td and non td's , even me in my 2.4d , yes it will slow you down a bit but you'll get there in the end , "frell" sakes its a hill and you have 1st gear if all else fails.
Hardknott pass , again is just a hill and if you take your time its passable
enjoy the ride ,thats what its there for

I have been towing my Caterham race car behind my 2.0ltr aircold last season and start of this, together with the misses and plenty of tools.
They really will go up anything, just take your time and don't overrev in 1st, ease her up nicely.
I just change the oil regularly.. shes fine
