thanks for that, looking on vagcat now at 85 year model seems to look more like mine, there are a lot of bloody pipes here, 3/4s of which i dont have, this is going to be a plumbing nightmare!!!!!!
i have attached picture i got from vagcat, basically i have all the water pipes that directly attach to the engine and nothing else, 4 pipes from the front i.e rad and heater but then nothing,
I know its a big favour but is there anyone around the Chorley lancs area who has an working setup I could have a good butchers at as i'm looking like there is a lot of bits i am missing

You dont ave to use the vw stuff...
What you do need to do is get the rad hoses onto the waterpump/tstat conections.. the heater hoses, 1 goes go on the right hand cyl head ant he other returns via the metal "cros pipe ofer the top of the engine... you will need the header tank and pipes that come odd the pump etc...

rebuild is going well, a few more questions if you dont mind.........
as you can see from the new pics the engine is in, drive shafts on etc etc and is going quite well really, could do with the following,
1. as you can see from my pic the fuel cap is sort of in place but there must be something else i am missing as there is a bloody great big hole i need to fill does anyone have part numbers or where i can get from????
2.i fitted new bilstein shocks all round as the ones on were really busted. will these shocks work with shorter springs as the ride height is pretty bloody high!!!! if so does anyone know where the best place to get springs from is????
3. does anyone have any wiring diagrams for the engine bay, most bits are easy but some colour codes and idea would be really nice!!!
4. plumbing fun, after doing some digging i have found the following.... i have an 88 bus with a pre85 1.9wbx which means earlier type water pipes, some have been cut and others just aint there, could some help with ideas for what goes where and some engine bay pics would be blummin lovely!!!
now for the pics

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks to a handy mechanic friend and a fair ammount of luck the bus has for the first time in 18 ish months sprung into life!!!!
starts well and revs well. my mechanic even had an "OK" look on his face which is unheard of!!!
here's a video of it springing into life, video is rubbish but hopefully the sound comes through ok. i.e LOUD
still need some help from you lovely people if you dont mind, i've asked a couple of questions below and really need to ask the following, its an early DG engine with early water pump thermostat together unit and with it being an 88 van should have the later cooling system, is there anyone who has made ahybrid system or can point me in the right direction..... some water pipes are self explanitory but some are an absoloute mystery!!!!
any help would be grately appreciated..
now for the video

Just a quick update really a few more pics and a couple of questions as usual :-0
I seem to have two "light" switches one with considerably less connections than the other, one of them turns on the dash lights and heater panel etc, the other intermitently turns on the side lights and VERY ocasionally with a smack turns on the headlights. I am assuming there is something wrong so am ordering anotgher one from brickwerks but just wondered why there are two versions????
bus is getting there now, after a very helpfull chat with this guy from ebay
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/letshaveabus" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; i should have a few more bits heading my way on tuesday
here's the pics, i'd just like to say thanks to everyone so far who has helped with this i wouldnt be any where near if it wasnt for the info from this club!!

Just thought i'd finish this topic off, basically the bus is back on the road, MOT Tax insurance etc etc and i'm very happy to be a T25 owner now instead of a T25 tinkerer!!! I'm far from done on the project and am not actually sure i ever will finish but everything is going to be cosmetic now i.e putting some door cards in and the like.
Here's a few pics of the bus at bug jam this year and for its first journey it did a 400 mile round trip with only having to pop a little bit of extra water in the expansion tank at the side of the motorway which was an adventure, system all bled now and not lost any water in the last 400 miles!
all good and thanks to everyone who helped get the bus running!!!
I've got a few bits in the for sale section mostly bits i didnt use or bought new ones so if anyones interested pop over and have a look
Cheers
James
