btw ..the price is not the price

This thing will be sold "gegen Gebot" i.e against the highest bid and "an Liebhaber" which means to an enthusiast.

This buck knows what he's at ...wait for the excitment to pass through all fora and then sell it to some collector for an undisclosed sum (or not at all)

Give it a few more days and this ad will have english text also

Goes to show how much the world has changed; that VW would even listen to the proposition of making such 'specials' is what makes it special ; i doubt whether VW would be able to do anything similar now, even if Anneka Rice were to walk in to the VW factory wearing nothing but a smile ...........

The VIN number and m codes would make interesting reading!

original VW syncro 16 duties (253-299) as a legal driver, with it a real rarity built for Botswana, never there been delivered, has stood till 1995 in VW in the letter 2 holder registrations, in my possession since 1998, since 11.4.2005 has cancelled, before notice of departure of new TÜV/MEADOW without objections, since 3x with red number for 20 kms in each case driven, garage cars all together 10 years run, of it only 3 winters very good state with regard to rust, no accident, rear-axle barrier interior equipment with multivan seats in front, sleeping bank and cupboard installation, upholsterer are encumbered cleansing-destitute with new feathers / with shock absorber with Bernd Jäger, with 100,000 kms new dental strap new LM other pictures with pleasure after inquiry, inspection in Bremen city center sales in lover against order.

Like it says above .... built FOR Botswana but never delivered and it stood in VW till 1995. This guy is a collector and knows his stuff. Id say he'd take 8k for it. The interior is basic with multivan seats but no side cards.

Vw SA Did make their own syncros. In the early to mid 90's they even made a few big windowed ones.
The easiest way to tell a SA manufactured syncro is by its body panels. These are RHD specific and were never available in europe.Made in SA for the SA market only. The front panel below the windscreen, the rear panel on the drivers side. The other big differences are the SA ones did not have a chassi number stamped into the body but had a chassi plate that clearly state made by VW South Africa.Unfortunatly this allowed a lot of them to be stolen. The interior trim and upholstry is SA only aswell. Far higher quality than here.
The Gearboxes and subframes and some suspension parts were imported from Europe.
There are even some SA 14's running around on 16 trailing arms and the bigger front drive shafts.(factory fitted)

Good old VW South Africa, my dad did 60,000 miles in a 69 Bay, in two years to 1970, the engine blew up and the local dealer Lyndsay Saker took it in (out of warranty) and sorted it. He watched as a European trained mechanic oversaw local two apprentices, drop and strip the engine in about 30 minutes, discover a dropped valve, and replace for free. It was that sort of service that has kept dad a VW only man, he is appalled with the full VW service history he has now, they just want your money.
