If you look closely at the top of the pic, just under the sill I think that is a filter. But I think I might try and find a replacement anyway, i just have been doign a lot of work on the van and don't really like changing too many things at once as it makes fault finding a nightmare. I am still in process of trying to have a custom exhaust fabricated as the down pipe needs to fit a gti twin port manifold.
