It's still a 1.6 CT though!
I am still on a bit of a mission to see if I can squeeze anything else out of it but I think the bank would end up empty if I went down some of the roads I have seen for more power! :D

I didn't realise there was a Haynes for the T25 - i'm sure i didn't see one either at JK, or on the official Haynes site, but that may have been the amount of Thatchers "Katy" i'd drunk that night. If sa Haynes for the T25 is available, can someone point me in the right direction?

Ta :ok :)

Ebay have them depending on model needed etc.
Halfwits sometimes have them in too, although not all models usually.

What sort of power/mpg etc do you get out of your beast? is it still 1600 or have you 'upped' it a little?

It's still a 1600, havn't upped the cc at all.
To be honest I have no idea of the current power output. There is a place a few miles from me with a rolling road etc. but when I went there last it was for a blocked carb (I bought them second hand... Hmmm!). Carb unblocked and tickover then went through the roof. Couldn't get it down below 1600 rpm. Turned out to be wear on the throttle plates along the axis of the shaft and took me a year to find new plates for them.
Anyway... Put new plates in and balanced/retuned carbs and the difference is amazing.
One thing I did notice was the increase in mpg even when using the dual twin set up. I can only put this down to being a better mix of air/fuel which ultimately gives more power output resulting in less fuel usage.
I am currently trying to calculate the exact...ish mpg. Will have to post results when done!
I do intend at some time to return to the rolling road for some figures and will probably post them up with the mpg figures.
I'll be back in a year or two...! :D

VWCamperfan wrote:Theres a bit more to it than just a 2l box though. There's new heads with 30% larger ports, high ratio rockers, new bores, new pistons/rings and dual twin IDF weber 40s.
It was mainly the heads that let these engines down. The valve guides wear and let oil through causing excessive smoking. Hoping the new ones don't! :D

Mark - what code are/is on the new heads you have? and what are they from/intended for? (bug/bus etc)

Stephen - I would suspect re-jetting the existing carb would make some difference albeit at the expense of MPG's

It's a pretty bog standard carb so any car refurb company out there would be able to sort it out for you - that said if you buy the service kits/some cleaner and the jets there is no reason why you cant do it yourself
