I've got an ancient frame awning that came with my van and I LOVE it. It was a pain to put up at first but I've totally sussed it now and I can put it up on my own in about 20 minutes (with no swearing now!). It is really sturdy, horrible storm in St Ives at Easter and loads of tents and more modern awnings on site were just trashed, while my awning was great.

It fits under the bed easily but the poles don't so they have to go in the boot.

It is only small though so no internal bedroom or anything, but it's big enough to keep loads of stuff in and still eat in or for the kids to play when I'm cooking.

Only issue really is a slight drip that I haven't got round to sorting in one corner.

I have had a few different awnings and a Kyham Motordome Classic for around 6 years. Used it loads and had a pole break once in gale force winds. I am sure the winds would have destroyed any awning I had connected. Still wouldn't buy anything else. Nothing else bar an Oztent is as quick to erect and that for me is key. I go camping to relax. Setting up camp has to be quick. I can have the Khyam up in about 5 minutes max. Anything else will take you a lot longer. So would you rather spend a lot longer setting up an awning that MIGHT be better in the odd night the winds get serious or spend less time setting up in the much more numerous times the winds aren't bad? How often have you been away in the last year and how many times during that year have the winds been so bad that it might have caused damage?

Hi All

No-one's mentioned the fixed awnings for the T25. How do these compare?? I have the large Motordome and must say it survived beautifully in high winds in Dorset this weekend while others were hanging on by the skin of their teeth. It is a pain in the a*** though and pointless for weekend camping.

I would appreciate understanding more about the Fiamma fixed awnings and what people think about them?
