Guys i took the van to the garage and put shell v-power fuel in with the tappets rattling. Then drove up & down the m62 for over a hour and when i got home and listened to the engine..all was quiet....i now know that with having a wasserboxer motor and with it not being run for months the oil obviously dribbled out of the tappets, hence why the tappets rattled after months of not being run.

Well I can't see how the fuel affected the tappet noise but as with homeopathy if it works for you it works for you. I do know how you feel about VW reliability as I have had nothing but trouble in the three years I have had my WBX. I won't go into detail but had I known... Anyway almost everthing which could have gone wrong now has and I am hoping for a couple ofyears compitively trouble free motoring from now on in. I run the 1600 Xflow engine in my mildly tuned speed boat on Slick 50. I wonder if anyone has a view on putting it in a WBX?
Cheers

Dear Mr Smith...
I think in a watercooled you would probably be ok putting it in. However, in an Aircooled, because of the higher operating temperature (typically 110 C.), it's not a good idea as the addative tends to be affected and clogs the filter... Not good!
