extreme reluctance....what a nice way of putting bucked like a bronto with the attitude of a teenager forced out of bed before 11 on a saturday!!
However, seeing the carb made me realise why.......the petrol dries out, and looks like fine grains of sand....then a bit of fluid-type petrol comes down, and washes the grains straight into the jet....it blocks and the van bucks.....
I try at least one trip to work a fortnight on mine. Seems to cope with that ok.

perhaps swap to electric fuel pump for petrol it refills the carb quicker than the manual one I think so you get better pick up on swap over, certainly did when I ran a 1.9DG, that's the advantage of the 2.1 injection system, it's at pressure and swap over when gas runs out is pretty instant
however electric pump can be annoyingly noisy so use rubber mounts when fitting and stick it in the engine bay
