You have o watch some of the motorway services, as a lot of them have started to use anpr cameras to clock you on arrival and exiting, and if you leave out sdie fo the free stay period, you get home to find a nice ticket.

I know Lymm truck stop have started this and a few others on the M6. I had a driver ticketed for overstaying by 30 minutes at Lymm truck stop, he over ran because he was to tired to drive, so instead of driving , he grabbed a couple of hours kip so he could finish the journey.

another spot I found on the A12
we used to go and stay on the beach at aldeburgh, since they knocked that one on the head, to go into the area there doesn't seem many places to overnight
we've overnighted there a couple of times, and have not yet been moved on

It would be very handy, I'm sure there are many decent places to stop over
that most never get to know about

ok, ok i was taking the pi$$......
for years and years i ran a web site called sleepingspots.co.uk.
Last year i took it down due to lack of input and the ones i had used, tested and found many of them were out of date, no useable or broken.
I still own the domain, i still have the webspace, should i rebuild it?
would i get enough input , with the detail like those listed on this thread above?
i took it down partly because all the good ones i used were being abused by people who had no respect for what they were doing, partly becuse the input from others was patchy and not accurate and i decided that unpublicised was better.....

The poi on here is small, mostly because sleepyspots dont have postcodes and i found and logged most of them before the days of gps, and the only accurate way of getting a poi for each spot was to go there, which i could do for many of them at the time......

maybe a section on this website would be better than a seperate website?

Agreed. I used to use the wildcamping forum but am wary about doing so now. Makes it too easy for numpties who have no respect for people and places, to find and abuse these locations, or for the authorities to block-off some beautiful spots, as happened to one place in the Cairngorms that we used to enjoy.
