not sure how many per door, I got 20, there 20p each

Just looking at the fixing tape as fitting my door seals has been on my list to do for over a year! (naughty i no!) would one roll enough its 10 meters long 9mm wide (is that correct size?) just want to make sure now eventually going to tackle it have correct size and enough! Mine has holes too so maybe thinking i should source some of them clips now too!

did you buy your door seals from chris as well are they genuine VW ones i've heard other ones can be a rubbish fit??

also if you dont mind me asking how much were they?

Yes I got the seals from Chris and they are VW
Cant remember the price but its on his site, they are a bit more than aftermarket seals but not a lot

I Reccomend paying mroe and sourcing better orginal seals as i got done last dubfreeze buying what i thought were orginal turns out there not and fit rubbish! trust me i am making do now as i brought both cab and tailgate but nothing but hassel, if there wasn't so much to do in my van i'd buy more again however there bottom of the list! Good luck .

When I had my van repsrayed they were kind enough not to refit the cab door seals - they're pretty old but I've attempted a temporary fix until I get some new ones BUT which way do they fit? Can anyone post a picture of a seal in close up so I can work out which way in its goes please

I've read the wiki and thats got me sorted apart from this one little glitch - unfortunately I managed to take loads of photos of everything else in the van before I removed the interior, but didn't realise the block at the spray shop was going to take the Bl**dy doors off so to speak.

Fitted both mine in about 30 mins, using double sided sticky tape as per instruction. The seals only really fit one way didnt even really give it a second thought. simplest way to explain it is the seal fits so that the seal spreads away from the centre of the door if that makes sense.

I fitted mine this way and due to what i thought was a small leak from the front window was showed up to be a rather large leak as since fitting door seals i now open my doors to a full footwell of water which poors out so I would say the cab door seals are definately working!!!!

thanks for the info james T25 - when I stripped the van out I forgot to take any photos of how the seals went in - I tried the obvious way first and the door wouldn't shut (even forcing it didn't close it ) - so i tried the seal another way, which admitidly looked wrong but I tried it anyway - but that didn't work either.

Looking through the Haynes Manual it says that the door ctach can be adjusted - so I;ll try that this weekend when it ain't raining and I've got some time!

morning all - quick update on this thread after a couple of years

finally got round to buying new doors seals from volkswagen emporium (after running with the old seals for 2 years post-respray). Now then, looking at my old seals they now appear to bare no resemblance to the new genuine seals, so no wonder i couldn't work out how to fix them in position. I shall explain:

the old seals can be describe as a lower case letter b in cross section thus 'b' - not damaged or missing any rubber, i checked
the new seals can be described as an upper case letter b in cross section, thus 'B'

I've consulted the fitting guide on the wiki and have the following question - do the bumpy bits (some may say boobies) on the 'B' face 'to' or 'away' from the centre of the door

anybody got photos of door seals in place please

Ive bought some window seals( scraper's) they are such a bad fit that water collects in the gutter and runs over it down the door's and straight into the door's where the window scraper does not touch the glass. I cant say exactly what i think on here as its a family site, I have phoned the supplier and told them what i think and they have agreed to give me a full refund.after reading what you guy's have said on here I will be getting good original seal's from the Vw emporium,I also got a windscreen seal from the same place as i got the door seal's from and the guy who came to fit it tried to fit for 45 minutes until he refitted my new screen with the old rubber the old one was fine i just thought that a new screen should a new seal ( bad mistake) by the way for all of you that live in or around east Kent the guy that fits my glass is Steve from Allscreens he's in the phone book and on the internet tel 01304826756 or moby 07790812879, when he took my screen out he found two small holes at the corner's which had to be fixed before refitting the screen i fixed them then he came back 6 hour's latter to refit the screen,well that fixed 2 leak's anyhow now for the rest, (any one know how to make leak and spud pie)
