absolutely rock solid. Very comfortable as well. Would recommend the Syncronutz kit to anyone. I will get them to do the conversion though

Not in the same league. But it is still not good to go too high. The 16" has the same springs as a 14", only lift is the wheels, which have bigger brakes for the increased torque applied to the hubs under braking.

That landrover was a shocking mess by all accounts.

The guy is a tit and in my opinion a murderer. Your right - not in the same league. 2 different sized callipers and excessive travel on the brakes. My god how stupid can you be.

Kept thinking about that TDi but also needed a 4 berth really.

What are the expensive bits on a 16"?
I know the CV's & brakes are different. Is that it?

Went to a chap in Bury St Edmunds. Not sure where he saw it.

16" also has longer swing arms (think that's what they are called) and stiffer shocks. Don't know what else.

Rear brake drums are larger and much more expensive. Rear inner and outer wheel bearings are different and are no longer available from VW as I had the last ones. Generally body is beefed up...welded steel panals on the inside, plastic arch covers (nice to get off!!!!) and expensive to replace.
Having said all that....I wouldnt sell mine for anything!!!

All the wheel bearings are the same as 14 or 2WD.
16's are not that much more to maintain only if you buy a rotten one that need some of the syncro 16 specific parts to replace, excluding brakes these parts can be sourced for reasonable prices if you do your research.

If the wheel bearings are the same as the 14", then why have I been told and sold otherwise. The one set (cant remember whether it was the inner or outer) I got from my local bearings supplier....much cheeper. But he couldnt get the other as he said they were a special bearing made to withstand higher temps. So I got these from VW...as I was told by CJ, was the only place to get them!!!??? Please advise on this as I hope I havent wasted money on bearings that are perhaps easily available!!!!??
