We've stayed at both Bay View and Ruda in Croyde which are both pretty good but expensive in summer (about £25 per night in September) and we've driven past Lobb Hills on the way to Croyde and been tempted. The Croyde campsites are great as you can walk to the beach and village in 10-15 minutes no matter which one you are at.

Lobb Fields looks OK from the road and the sister and brother in law have stayed there and were quite pleased. It is probably a 20 minute or so walk into Braunton and it will be a car journey to the beach. Car parks around there aren't cheap (£6 at Saunton Sands, I almost had heart failure).

It is a good location though and the area is fantastic.

Have a great stay.

Indeed. We've been to Bay View Farm a few times, though the fields still slopes ever more steeply upward after the first 5 or six pitches. There is also Apple Tree farm, on the hill above north of Croyde, though this was more old school ie less organised (even a tad anarchic) , less well maintained facilities, and frankly a lot noisier ! Cheap though :) Surfers Paradise is full of (intoxicated) teenage shortboard wannabees. We called it Surfer Parasites every time we walked past on the way to the beach, Avoid IMHO. And shop locally if you can, Tesco seem to be taking over the place. I'll shut up now
