The Wiki knows!

Yup, 150+

Although there is no 'God given' figure, just depends how well it's all been broken in. 150 about minimum for a new engine, would like to see 175 + myself.

8 bar is minimum according to Bentley

Ok, will be doing the ol' compression test sometime soon and be publishing my results(rain stopping me at present).
I am parked on a hill.

Can I do the test on a hill? (I wouldn't have thought that it mattered at all, but whats the technical consensus?) There again, the wet test might be a tad difficult I should imagine.

Afternoon!
Taking readings on a hill won't make any difference but don't expect a wet test to work with these engines. The idea of a wet test is to provide an oil seal between the piston rings and the cylinder walls but with a flat 4 engine the oil just sits in the bottom of the cylinder and doesn't seal any more than the bottom inch or so of the rings. Great on an in-line engine, not so great on these!
Ps. I'll try to get over sometime to have a looksie. If you're free this Saturday I could pop over as i'm not doing much then. (Busy Sunday mind, so need to get it all running perfectly by then!)
