Yes, a good place to fix additional sound deadening for the front arches, those seat boxes are right over the wheels...

Have already tried this way....

good idea the old camping mat used flashing tape before on another van and worked well but was on the inside although not to keen on the idea this time as want to bring the syncro to the desert and didnt want to wading around in liquid bitumen besides a lot of my van hase been decked out with foam by previous owner anyhow will probably give the mud guard liners a go going to check with Dave to see if he wants some and order next week but am now torn between the two makes although 130 euro could be the decisive factor so might go for the cheap ones although still temted by the original of the species so will see

Ah OK, that's very thin self adhesive aluminised tape, no bitumen, but it's now starting to come off here and there after about 2 years I suppose. Not bad and no biggy to fix. Used HD spray adhesive for the camping mat, pre-prepped both surfaces, about 1 minute drying and up it went, quite a good bond on a fresh painted surface.
Just prefer flammable insulation on the outside as much as possible!
