I used this type of hole cutter which was powered by my cordless drill.

It takes about 20 seconds to cut the hole, and a useful set is available from screwfix.

You can then seal the exhaust pipe with this sealant

Just measure up where you want the hole, and then check underneath to make sure there is nothing in the way. Just infront of the rear jacking points is a popular place, with no complications underneath.

Where are you going to put the propex?
If under the rock and roll bed, then surely the only holes you need to drill through the floor are inlet, exhaust and possible gas supply (and possibly power) ? These are all relatively small holes which should be sealed by the gasket on the propex.
Dont you just need 2 x 63mm holes cutting through the front of the bed to direct cold air in and warm air out?
Unless of course you are planning to duct the hot air to a completely different place?
I've probably got very confused - so sorry if im completely wrong!

the propex is already in I have bought more ducting ans switchable Y branch so i can direct heat to the front of the van then to the back by switching the Y branch when parked

ive got the arbor & hole cutter, will try the sealant you suggested, ill post a few pics when Im done
its actually another ducting hose I am planning on installing with a switchable Y branch to i can heat the front while driving and the back while camping

as jason k said the hole was very easy to drill
Ive now run the pipework from the Propex to the front of the van, will stick up a thread with photos

will have to wait for a cold day to test, today was beautiful!
but there is a good blast of hot & cold coming from the front
