The chances of being pulled by vosa are slim, but if you do ever get pulled by vosa, I'll warn you now they are *****. They normally go for lorry and van drivers, however I can assure you from personal experience if there doing one of there full checks there go over the vehicle with a fine tooth combe.
The last time I was pulled in ( I drive a luton for a living) I was there for over an hour while they checked everything, from weight, brakes, suspension, fuel etc etc
Also remember somethings which are illegal on a vehicle are not MOT fails, stupid I know.

Just remember - if you "take it out" for an MOT - then if you have an accident (and are unable to whip it out before the insurance assessor inspects the remains) they may well pick up on it and use it as a wriggle out from paying any claim.
One reason I keep mine stock as close as poss - and declare any mods.....you really don't want to be paying a personal injury claim from your own pocket for the next - well forever!
Just a thought.

Older 3 series BMWs have a recess for the handbrake and because the consule was desighned for left hand drive. You have to reach over the consule to pull it and it also sits flush when off.
Nice job by the way.

I found they make centre consoles in America.
If yo log onto "gowesty.com" they have em..but shipping is a bit of a yuek!.

I keep replica Projektzwo centre consoles. They are LHD but feature an area for cutting in gauges, single DIN head units etc as well as proper recesses/trims for the gearstick and handbrake.
They will soon be adapted to suit RHD models too. Seen them coated in spray flocking as well as trimmed in leather/vinyl and they look great.
Think I am going to slot on into my Westy

How about this or something like this.......?

Saves a lot of hassle and you could overlap the covering so wouldn't need to re-do it. then you could use some of that contourable mdf to fill in the sides.
If I'm honest I cant see the problem its only a parking brake I mean its not like you need to be doing handbrake turns or anything and its so far down.......have you taken it down the local MOT station and asked what they think?
I used to drive a van where the handrake was under the dash so why would this be an issue?
