My thanks for your time and advice. The clutch was renewed with the engine so I might have a word with the guys in the garage.

Nice thoughts here from now on please...... :D

As Mark said, not here. This thread has nothing to do with any engine but maxstu's Let us keep it about their engine.

Spray brake and clutch cleaner will solve most (reasonable) oil pollution on clutches.

Was thinking it's a good chance clutch is okay with a little cleaner too.

Thanks you very nicely Rob.

Laurie/Lloyd, Thanks for the advice. I'll ask the garage on Monday.

Lloyd, coming back to that special bottle of ale I've got for our next meet..... I've had a look on the label and I'm pretty certain the ingredients could also be ideal for cleaning off the clutch? So will get another bottle.

Do we really drink this stuff

Cheers!

Seems a rough and ready approach but if we ever got a clutch plate on a bug mildly contaminated by oil, we'd douse it in petrol and set the bugger on fire. It takes the oil with it.

Not sure where that extends from - probably a midlands 'grease monkey' technique but it works ok.
