You can see the bow on the poles in this photo, including the upright poles, which are adjustable on our tent, didn't really seem to make a great deal of difference how you adjusted them though.

We only attached it to the van once, in three weeks, but ended up using it as shown in the photo. With the door flap out on it's poles we pulled the connection gusset thing out over it. This meant that when it rained it gave a dry vestibule before entering the tent. This was quite effective, and meant that only the fly screen needed zipping at night. (mind you it was a bit warmer) But for those elusive hot British summer nights, and showers it would work well. We used a few bungees to get the tension right.
