tried the above - and noticed that the middle section of the gear linkage has come / snapped off -
looks like a small piece of white coconut!?! type material holding / joining the 2 sections together -
does anyone know what this is? how to repair / replace? what its called would be a help! Plus - can i get a replaceemnt part anywhere?
as always - any ideas / hints gratefully received -

a top link - thanks for that -
all well w the van - a local garage realigned linkage and replaced clutch slave cylinder that had seized - other than a toastie smell from the back - all good - nice to be mobile for the summer -
:)

Found the problem on mine, difficulty engaging first- going into reverse or third. Checked the entire linkage, got to the front linkage and discovered that the bolt securing the shift rod to the gear lever was 'loose' (understatement of the day!). No need to remove the housing, easy peasy :D and I now have a brand new gearbox......feels like it anyway. :D :D

NB. Renewed the gearbox oil too, so many thanks to the wiki and Mocki, whose tips always include tea breaks......what a considerate fellow he is!
