Speedo cable needs a bit of oil, though not too much as that can make them overead if it works its way into the clock.

Thanks Syncro G, I'll look into doing that, I guess it will take some of the fun out of town-driving though.

Well I think you can make them better, but curing them completely is unlikely so theres always a bit amusement to be had. 15MPH gets mine excited and it clatters against the stopper. Thinking about it maybe the force of that under repeated cyclic loading causes the neadle to slowly move on its spindle over the years, thus explaining why the neadle overead massively (35% error) and needed to be recalabrated?
