i maybe totally out of line here, but i feel its just a tad risky putting a smaller oil filter on a 2.1, or indeed a DG..... wrong, just bliddy wrong and asking for problems.....

Not sure what it is off
This cross-references as a Crosland 652 which is fitted to all Corrados, Derbys, Petrol Golfs, Petrol Jettas, most Petrol Polos, Petrol Sanatas, Sciroccos, Some Ventos, Petrol Caddys, LT's with 2.0 ltr Audi engine BUT not a single version of the Transporter T25 (it does fit the 2.0 petrol T4 though)

The 030 filter won't be a problem. I prefer to use the 070, for no better reason than VW made a special filter for that application. being the penny pinching bastards that manufacturers are, I can't see why they wouldn't have used the pre- existing 056115561.
Looking at a pile of old units at URO many years ago, I noticed that the majority of them had non oem or non original fit filters fitted! That's why I stick to the 070.
I would certainly look at extra support, as the weight is part of the reason for head seal failure. That is why VW went over to a system that was supported by the engine bracket and a bracket by the bell housing.
If you want to go economy on a system, why not use thepipework off the late system, the cast knuckle and a straight silenced from the knuckle and out.
PS. The cast knuckle also give a nice place to fit a turbo!

Splashing out Rob?
I reckon JP have made quite a few quid out of 80-90 over the past couple of years. Would be good if they gave a discount to 80-90 members I reckon

what about locating your nearest powerflow suppliers and see what price they offer ?

Just an idea - I fitted a Zorst rearbox for £70 to my non VW ... very pleased with that.

I have seen Powerflow systems.
I wouldn't.
I would however fit a JP one, they fit lovely, look good, except for the backbox being a bit long for my liking, but they did say they would happily make a shorter one for me if I wanted.
CJ at Syncrospares in devon also has a source for OEM looking stainless steel exhausts.
