Cheers, just done a search and the nearest LPG to me is across the other side of town, which on a good day with the road layouts and numerous traffic lights we have in Plymouth, would take best part of a half day for the round trip!
Still, going to save and invest as my next large investment on the camper. Thanks for the info and if there's any more let me know.

We've got ours in the wardrobe. We could have had the conversion done locally but we made the trip to Gasure at Chester, on account of his reputation within this club and all the excellent feedback that we'd heard.

under the back seat (bigger tank...average of 220 miles)

ps these guys do LPG conversions..in Plymouth...£850 inc VAT!

The word 'investment' is appropriate too ... it will increase the resale value or at the very least the desirability when you come to sell OR can be transplanted to your next (suitable) van.

What France? I wish, have booked for France again, another overnight drive to the surf but that's another story!

LPG is now on the wish list and will be working towards fiting it.
I have a geat mechanic who I will speak to about it, but will also check the link for the Plymouth installers.
Still unsure about positionof the tank.

ferries are ok euro tunnel is a big no no, also some road tunnels say no over seas but loads drive through em

Hmmm, steve has a bit of a reputation .....a good one that is - we even did the 800+ miles round trip to get him to do it - when there is a convertor not 4 miles away!!!

We have heard only good about steve and his conversions - and can back this up with our experience. 3k miles and going strong - we love it.

Our local convertor we only seem to hear poor reports about - from people who have used them - I am sure there are other good uns but we decided a long return trip (with a night in the van) was a small price to pay.

One other thing to consider is the LPG leisure tank (fills up when you fill up at the pump)

Always have a full gas bottle
Runs Propane not Butane (better in the very cold)
Much cheaper than bottles
Gain a cupboard to store other crap in

We had steve do this at the same time and think it's great

Oh and no probs finding LPG even in oop in the Highlands of Scotland - you soon get to know where they all are.

If your van's registered as dual-fuel and IF the ferry company picks up on it (Norfolkline did 2 years ago) they may ask you to switch your gas off .... which I did by putting the gas/petrol switch to the off position. No-one checked though.

I think I will do the same, not sure about anyone local, but then I think I remember reading somewhere that you have to go back after around 800 miles to have it adjusted, hopefully I was dreaming that part, think I need to ring Steve and find out to be sure.

i found these loads in scotland on our recent trip.

not on any of the tomtom downloads we had but if there was a big gap between lpg stations on the tomtom we were guaranteed to find two or three of these places in between.


still got a full tank of petrol from boxing day actually over 2000 miles later
