The glare might by to do with a big proportion of charlies driving with out of line headlights. Some headlights nearly blind me on low beam

That's true today, you'd think modern new cars would be miles better but they're worse, and so many headlights out too on new cars (new to me is less than 10 years old)

Then there's speed bumps/sleeping policemen that break all the rules by throwing oncoming headlights straight into your eyes.. soemtimes even hrowing oncoming cars into your path. I thought obstructing the highway was illegal ?

Then there all these new cars with wickedly dangerous bright light... some are like having a laser burning a hole through your head... totally unnecessary levels of light considering how few roads today are unlit compared to years ago... technology gone mad.

Range Rovers, Hondas and BMWs and those ridiclous new Bentleys are some of the worst lights to come face to face with... all allowed under the assumption that they have a sharp cut-off profile... all making the stupid assumption that roads are smooth, road humps don't exist and that the lights will remain accurately aligned... all WRONG!

So I agree Tony, excessive brightness from mirrors as well as from the front is a problem... and car designers and manufacturers have forgotten what engineering is about... sensible ergonomic compromises - not MORE and MORE OF ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.

Rant over, but Just wait till I get on the subject of those silly LED taillights that prevent following drivers from reading the road ahead properly - what advanced driving is all about, now damn nigh impossible

When are these irresponsible manufacturers going to realise that night-time tail and brake-light brightness should be reduced automatically - surely that's not beyond their wit or budget with all the useless crap they put on cars today?

The worst stretch of road I used to use was the M61. Total darkness from the M6 to the M60. I was blinded 6 times a day, each way :?
