Have you knocked the cable off the throttle pot? is it returning to a stop?

yeah throttle cable stops as it should. throttle pedle does nothing when the engine is running. I did find a cable just behind the bulkhead it was sheathed and had a single piece of cable coming out of it seemed to go to the front of the vehicle it's def not the throttle though.

The spare cable is the cold start from the original pump, not needed for TDI.
So, you start it up, and it revs it's nads off but the throttle pedal has no effect on the revs.
When revving it smokes it's knob off?

Have you tried disconnecting the engine oil breather?

ive not tried the engine oil breather. Just to confirm thats the tube that comes off the air intake and goes to a round disc and then to the engine???
I did pay cash to the gash cowboy bodger excuse for a mechanic.

As the old addage goes, you get what you pay for.
I heard of a person doing TDI conversions for £800 including an engine!

Theres no way on earth you can do that properly!

There will be a pipe coming from the breather going into the turbo inlet, remove that and give it a go.

To be fair it really need plugging in to see whats going on but with no DLC your gunna struggle.

have you got any pictures? of the engine?

Something may be blatantly obvious if we could get a look.

i'll take some pics tomorrrow. I know the pipe your on about it's quite flimsy not as heavy duty as the other turbo pipes. my conversion cost £500 and I supplyed the audi 80 complete it even had an mot till feb!!!!

Before i cleaned up the pipes and egr valve i noticed that one of the nipples on my wastegate was blocked off with a tyre valve! I think that there should have been some hose that came off that and then gone to a pressure sensor. but it had been block with this tyre valve.

I've got some more light to shed on the subject. It was running fast due to the air filter. the afm was exposed to pure air so that explains the over running. it now runs slower but still with S4!t loads of white smoke. Do you think its burning coolant!!! The throttle still has no effect on the engine.

Well, I can only compare to the Marine Diesels I work on.....a boat with white smoke is always (99%) a pump timing issue......

It normally needs a tiny 'tweak' and the problem goes away........ :)

However, as its all 'fly by wire', I expect the lack of throttle and the white smoke are related in some way.........?

so you think the fuel pump has gone out of sync?
but would this explain why the throttle has no effect? remember ive got fly by wire throttle. I think we're narrowing it down though

will over fueling cause white smoke? i thought it would be black?
