True! WD40 is not a pen oil... even good old 3-In-One is prob better, but a proper pen oil like Plusgas better..
There's lots of tips on getting nuts and bolts off in the Wiki, drifting them splitting them, drilling them, heating them etc...

I have just done this procedure.
For me I got 5 out and 3 stuck, the only way was to take the engine out, drill then helicoil them.
If I had known this from the start it would of saved three days laid on my my back being very annoyed!
The most important bit is the oxy acetelyne heat from the welding kit!!!

Ive had some good results with rust buster
Ah, good one Bob, have some of this on the shelf, not tried it in anger yet... but no doubt will do now!
I have now attempted to consolidate all the various methods of removing rusted/broken/seized studs/nuts/bolts into one Wiki article...

Try things to remove in the right order, and you won't have any more hassles than job demands.... start off wrong and you might !

I fitted a complete exhaust system on my '89 1900 watercooled a couple of weeks ago. All the nuts and bolts were practically rusted away. Couldn't get a spanner to any of 'em. In the end I took the angle grinder to all the pipework to leave about an inch still bolted to the heads. It's a pretty scary experience lying under the engine with a grinder a few inches from your face being covered by a cascade of sparks. At least this gave me a far better access to the nuts and head bolts. Loads of Plusgas later I got a couple off with the mole grips. The others I got off with the grinder, and a couple of damaged studs finally succumbed to a pair of stilsons. Putting the new one on was a pleasure by comparison!
It took me two days to do the job. Two days lying on your back on a concrete floor getting covered in rust and grime, skinning your knuckles, cracking your head every time you move is no good for you. Well, not when your 68 years old.
A fortnight later and I'm still creaking. I'm on my umteenth box of Anadin double strength plus. Bugger it, I'll get the wife to do it next time.

Nick,
Think you'll find Ibuprofen work a bit better than Anadin - if it's strained or stiff muscles - used occasionally, they're magic
... but I know what you mean!
Trust you had a good full-face mask and leather gloves on when grinding

Bit easy to remove a bit of a finger... permanently!

Yes, Anadin Ibuprofen Double Strength Plus!! Take one every 8 hours. Was prescription only but now available over the counter. Magic. I think I'm becoming addicted.
I was fully kitted up with mask and gloves. Afterwards, her indoors said I should loose the gloves but continue with the mask.

Availability of Ibuprofen depends on the strength. 100mg & 200mg tablets have been available off the shelf in pharmacies/supermarkets for at least 7 years. Ibuprofen 400mg is only available on prescription as far as I am aware.
WARNING: Ibuprofen is not compatible with certain other medication including beta blockers & similar stuff taken for high blood pressure. Not all G.P.s seem to be aware of this!

Anadin Ultra double strength 400 mg capsules now available over the counter. One capsule every 8 hours. Maximum 3 times a day. Got mine from Boots. About £7.50 for a box of 20.

Great advice guys!!
I fitted a new tail pipe over the weekened!
I armed myself with some penatration oil, rust buster (as advised), mole grips, hammer and a socket set. Took around 1 hour per bolt!!!! So I was F!@#!!! glad when the last one came out!
but now I have a nice new shinny tail pipe
