There some thing else that should be mentioned.If you keep the tinware on your T25 Diesel it helps the stability of the van .I noticed this with my other T25 diesel that had it missing and then was obtained second hand and fitted.I used to travel from Surrey to Devon through out the year for short holidays.If there was strong winds or bad weather conditions without the tinware the van seemed to shudder about occasionaly.When it was fitted there was a definate improvement with the vans stability.My present 1.6td has no exhuast or engine sump tinware by choice i would refit them for the reasons explained.

He's saying the sump undertray aids stability in windy conditions..

I can see no good reason for the exhaust heat shield on a non-turbo either - though if its there and in good nick I prob. wouldn't go out of my way to take it off...

very true, i had to remove mine to do some welding but i couldnt see the point of wasting 15 minutes putting it back on ! guess what though? its still as noisey and it still handles like a barge

I took off the tinware on either side of the bottom of my engine cause it was rattling, filthy, made access difficult and was battered. It also prevented muck and dirt from getting out of the engine bay as quickly when Im offroading. I left the bash plate on the bottom though.
