Will start that chapter shortly. Have a small en suite privvy to decorate and replace cistern and toilet bowl first.
Ive found a company about 60 miles away that look the part for cleaning up the cylinder heads and cutting the new valves.
They must be kosher. They are wearing overalls!

I blew it up in December 2021. The waterpump bearing failed. Big cloud of steam and total lose of coolant from the distribution tower failing too.
Terribly storm night on an unlit dual carriageway and no safe place to stop. So l ragged the camper until we got to a well lit spot. Then bottom end give a rattle and oil light came on.
Shame really. I could have gotten away with a just replacement waterpump if l had stopped immediately. But we (Maxine & me) had four dogs onboard and decided to press on for another five miles to safety. Much fun.

Recently had to get a new water pump.
Every now and then when starting the van, I'd get an odd noise - not the fan belt slipping, but more of a metal grinding noise.
( The only way I can describe it. )
Before that I had been losing small amounts of coolant, but couldn't ever spot the leak.
A few weeks ago I noticed some water in the little spaces in the engine carrier under the water pump and I could think of nothing else it could be other than the pump failing.
New pump has now eliminated both issues, and when the old one was out you could feel a few mil play in water pump bearing.
Your experience is exactly what I feared might happen if I left it.
