Fuse Box Pin and Wire Layout
Viewed from behind. (Flipped over 180°)
The Wire Colours and their order are as if you could see through the fuse panel from the front.
The big 'X' means there is no spade terminal in that location.
And "X2" means there are two wires of that colour connected to that terminal.
And the relays in my old basic van.
Not quite as confusing, because you see the rear of the relay sockets, when you look at the fusebox from the front.
The small wires are just two wires fitted to the same spade connectors. (Not separate Connectors).

Thank you for your kind comments.
It makes the head scratching more than worthwhile.
I must admit - looking at the simplicity of the wiring, I am beginning to wonder why I converted mine to the CE1 fusebox.

Does any know what type of relay fits in-between relay 1 & 3?

Due to the slot layout, I cannot think of any relay that would fit.
And the spacing also indicates that a blade fuse would not fit either.

Thanks for the reply! I have a box full of relays and tried them all but yes, none of them fitted, oh well.

Thank-you for your kind words - they are very much appreciated.
I wish I had done this before converting my van shell to the CE1 fusebox.
The later wiring is very messy and makes too much use of the fusebox as an electrical hub, with wires zig-zagging in and out of the fusebox, rather than a simple safety interface between the supply voltage rails and the aged lights, switches, etc.
The voltage paths in the Early Euro / Torpedo fusebox are much more direct, therefore simpler and less susceptible to voltage drop due to shorter cable runs.
As an example - the headlamps.
Early torpedo system.
Battery, fusebox (X circuit relay), light switch, beam flasher switch, fusebox (for high or low beam fuses) then direct to the light units and chassis ground.
Later CE1 system.
Battery,
fusebox (X circuit relay),
light switch, back to the
fusebox,
beam flasher switch, again back to the
fusebox,
light units, then chassis / ground.

Great diagram Robsey. In addition to this, try searching for VW T25 wiring diagram on ebay. There is a laminated set of schematic style wiring diagrams. They are a little fuzzy, but much easier to work with.
